TWWM: Onerous Stone 2 by Growlipsis TWWM: Onerous Stone 2 by Growlipsis
Bubbles fizzed around Pip’s head as he plunged into the chilled water, his eyes squinting as jets of water rushed past his head. Hitting the water had felt like hitting solid stone and, while Pip couldn’t get hurt per se, the impact had still left his skin tingling uncomfortably.

His eyes began to adjust of the low light, and as they did they refocused on his prey - the strange, mossy stone that had a life of its own. He had followed it, irritated and frustrated, but as the two sank Pip could feel his frustration washing away, as though carried skyward by the bubbles.

He recalled the series of events leading to this point - Pip, speeding his pace as he could sense the end of his journey closing in, seeing the stone hurtle off the cliff but being unable to stop himself fast enough, skidding over the cliff and plummeting after the stone and landing with a hissing SPLASH.

Though he knew the stone couldn’t swim - not really - it seemed as though it was being pulled downwards into the depths, not just sinking. He flicked his gaze down, washing his eyes over the lakebed until he noticed a strange indent in the ground; a hole which matched the shape of the stone perfectly, located exactly where the stone was due to land.

The stone sank down still, and Pip watched intrigued as it slotted into the hole. A flash of light extended down, hovering over the stone and the slot almost like a spotlight, causing Pip to wince backwards while  squinting his eyes away from the sudden light. Any lingering resentment he held for the stone evaporated, and a calm serenity spilled over him. He began to blissfully float upwards alongside the bubbles, and should he have had a mouth, would have smiled.

And heres the final part of this path! Pip arrived at his destination, and the stone finally managed to get home. This is my first attempt at painting an underwater scene, and I'm very happy with how it turned out!
